The subject
of intelligent design has been much in the news in recent months
but is often treated in a piecemeal fashion or one-sidedly. This
conference highlighted points of agreement and disagreement
between two leading intellectuals on the subject:
William A. Dembski, senior
fellow with Discovery Institute's Center for Science and
Culture, and Michael Ruse,
an internationally known philosopher of science. Because of the
damage done to the New Orleans campus by Hurricane Katrina in
the previous fall, the 2006 Greer-Heard Point-Counterpoint Forum
was held at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia.
Other speakers included Martinez
Hewlett (University of Arizona), Francis J. Beckwith (Baylor
University), Wesley R. Elsberry (National Center for Science
Education), and William Lane Craig (Talbot School of Theology).
